A score to settle

The date
Over the weekend, my girlfriend and I watched Roman Holiday. I’m not a big fan of older movies, but it was either Roman Holiday or the new Star Wars movie (and I hate Star Wars—I haven’t seen a single Star Wars—I lose major geek points for it, but I don’t like any movie that’s Star-related).
You see, I owe it to her to watch a movie of her choice because of…
The first date
My girlfriend will never let me forget about our first “date”. This was long before we started officially dating and became girlfriend/boyfriend—we were just friends. If she wasn’t such a total flake, we probably would have a couple more months added on to our dating total.
After many failed get-togethers, we finally met up at her house to watch The Score...
She hated it. A lot. And she still talks about it to this day. It’s been almost four years, but she still won’t let it go!
There will be a silence in our conversation and then she’ll suddenly start talking about how much The Score sucks and how it’s too bad that it was the first movie we watched together.
I told her about how I’m writing this story for the website and she had this to say:
Annie: If I wanted to get you back for THE SCORE, I wouldn’t have made you watch an enjoyable romantic comedy starring Audrey Hepburn!
The other dates
Luckily, we do enjoy some movies we’ve watched together. Like 15 Minutes, Confidence and Donnie Darko. I think she just doesn’t like movies that don’t star Ed Burns or Jake Gyllenhall. Groupie!
A future date
She’s going to remember The Score forever. I’ll never hear the end of it. I could become a billionaire, take an exotic trip with her and save her life during our travels and she’ll still say, “Remember when you made me watch The Score?”
Comments
I’d be annoyed and start telling her that movies she likes sucks…in spite….

Her trust in my movie picking is scarred for life, though. You don’t know how long I had to lobby for her to watch The Last Castle. It was an era.
“Stay back. I have powers… Political powers!”
Anyway, for me, personally, Ocean’s 11 was much more predictable than The Score. And Edward Norton’s acting kicks everyone’s ass.
I can’t speak much on the flamboyant clothing style, though.
